We are pleased to share our initial ESG Disclosure with you, highlighting our approach to ESG, which includes our first-ever ESG Materiality Assessment and the identification of core ESG factors. We remain dedicated to continually monitoring ESG factors that have the most potential to influence our company’s value.
At FirstService, we have long believed in the importance of giving back to our people, our community, and the environment. Since 2018, we have put this belief into action through our Social Purpose initiative. We also recognize that environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors can present material risks and opportunities for the value of our company.
In our ESG Disclosure, we describe the steps we have taken in 2023 to enhance and communicate our approach to ESG, including clarifying our approach to ESG governance and undertaking our first ESG Materiality Assessment. We also share highlights that show how our brands are addressing material ESG factors, and how team members across the company are making a positive impact through our Social Purpose initiative. As well as risks that we must continue to effectively manage, ESG and climate change present significant opportunities for FirstService. These include supporting our clients to enhance energy efficiency through our energy management and advisory affiliate FirstService Energy, which we established in 2010, and helping clients to recover from the impacts of acute weather events through our restoration businesses First Onsite and Paul Davis.
We will continue to assess our environmental impact, address ESG queries from our stakeholders, and closely monitor the changing landscape of ESG legislation, regulations, and standards to ensure we remain in alignment – as well as advancing our commitment to #FirstServeOthers through the Social Purpose initiative.
